Terry Schiavo

normally… I don’t spend alot of time talking about political things…because, I don’t find them entertaining, and I like to believe that at least part of the reason people read this blog, is because its entertaining…. that said.. I can’t avoid saying something on this topic.

But…because I like to think I’m entertaining… you’ll have to read the rest of the my opinion on this by clicking on the “continue reading link” so I can keep the political stuff off the front page…

Still reading? Ok.. you asked for it… Here are some of my thoughts on various parts of this whole deal..

1 – There is absolutely NO reason for the Federal government to have become involved in this…

The matter has been decided multiple times over several YEARS in state court. Shouldn’t the fed’s be rushing through legislation that actually is important? You know, little things like revising our completely screwed up tax system, balancing the budget, updating the space program, little things like that?

2 – She’s married, its no longer her parent’s decision…

if they wanted to keep making decisions for her, they shouldn’t have let her grow up and reach age 18. Her husband is the one in the best position to know what she would have wanted. I know that I wouldn’t want my mom fighting with Janice while I was in a ‘persistant vegitative state’ for `14 YEARS…(if I ever end up in such a state.. the first person who tries to keep me going for more then a few days on a tube is going to get their ass kicked)

3 – all the ‘right-to-life’ protesters…

Screw off.. its absolutely none of your business, this is a private, personal issue, that should be between the husband and wife…. not in the national spotlight…. for those protesters saying that its ‘god’s will’ that she be kept alive on a feeding tube (and really, I don’t consider her current state ‘alive’).. how about this? leave the tube out, if its ‘god’s will’ that she live.. she’ll wake up and start eating…

At this point, I’m just glad that the first federal judge to hear this case after the bullshit legislation was passed, realized that the issue had already been decided at the state level, and backed the state decision.
