Viva Las Vegas!

We got back in from our Vegas trip on Weds..just now getting a chance to post about it. I had considered posting daily updates while we were there…but the hotel doesn’t provide free internet access….it was $9.99 a day for WebTV access and $10.99 for “real” access…

so.. instead.. you get one big post with all the vegas stuff in it…

Kael slept most of the flight there… and definitely seemed to have fun the parts of the flight he was awake for.

I found out a little bit before we left, I found out that Celine Dion had cancelled the performance that I was going to take Janice to (hey… she’s a big Celine fan…its not my fault). so, upon getting to Vegas and getting checked in..we had to run over to Ceaser’s Palace and see if there were tickets available for any of the performances, the only night left that we would have someone to watch Kael for, was Saturday night…which was the night we had been planning on going to see the Dinner show at the excalibur (jousting/swordfighting..eating with your hands.. all the good stuff)… so we got tickets to the dinner show Thursday night instead.

Kael had a blast at the dinner show… watching him was better then watching the show. He’d laugh, clap, scream, and bang on the table just like everyone else. I still think watching him at the show was one of the best parts of the vacation.

Friday was spent shopping, primarily at the shops at Ceaser’s Palace… lots of wondering around.. I did find a life size yoda (the one Blockbuster Video was giving away when the Special edition came out on VHS for the last time) for sale in one of the shops… for the low, low, price of $1599…. which is only a good price..because I’ve already got that Yoda..and I didn’t pay anywhere near that for it..so its good to know its worth more now.

Saturday was the wedding, and then after the wedding we went to the Coca-Cola and M&M shops. That night, we went to the Celine Dion show..and since we were running a little bit late from dinner, I didn’t have time to grab my iPod.. so I had to listen to Celine while watching the show… The choreography and dancers were actually pretty good (its was done by one of the guys who do Cirque du Soleil)….

Sunday we went to the Shark Reef thingie at Mandalay Bay, and that was pretty cool.

Monday was the dolphins and tigers at the Mirage..although, the Lion that we saw, that was advertised as a ‘white’ lion…looked pretty much identical to everyother lion that I’ve ever seen… a little bit lighter colored..but not white…

Tuesday was just hanging out around the hotel, relaxing, packing, and trying to hit any last minute things that we didn’t get to earlier..

Weds was the trip home. Kael slept on the flight back…from just after take-off until the plane was taxiing into the gate.

Overall, it was a fun trip… maybe a day to long..but fun. My big complaint, is the fact that even though the Excalibur bills itself as a family friendly hotel…they are not… judging from the way we were treated..if you’ve got a family, and you choose to go to their hotel, you’re really only welcome in your room, their shops, restaurants…if we were anywhere else, we were getting hounded by the hotel goon squad to get moving…even if we were reading the signs to see how to get to where we were trying to go!

Here’s a suggestion to you folks at the Excalibur.. if you don’t want people walking through parts of your hotel to get to other parts… put all your ‘attractions’ and the stuff you want people to get to on one side..so they don’t have to walk through the whole hotel to get to it!

So..if you plan on going to Vegas..don’t stay at the Excalibur..stay somewhere else instead. Oh yeah..if you’re a Coke drinker (and really, who that has any class isn’t?) don’t stay there either… they only server that nasty pepsi stuff there (its sacrilegious…even the McDonald’s inside the hotel serves pepsi)
