A Trip to see Thomas

In what has got to be solid proof that Kael is spoiled completely, on Friday (the 17) we took Kael to “A Day Out with Thomas“. Now, while that on its own doesn’t sound like much…consider this.. the “closest” that Thomas actually came to where we live? 378 miles.

According to Google’s map service, that translates into a one way drive of 8 hours and 48 minutes. On the way there, we made really good time, and made it in just under 8 hours (That includes 45 minutes of road closure due to construction, and 30 minutes of lunch, and another 30 minutes of bathroom/get Kael out of the car breaks). But, overall we still spent 16 hours in the car..to see a Train..

It was more then worth it though… Kael had a blast.. He’d been looking forward to it for awhile (we’d ask him where he was going on Friday, and he’d answer “Thomas on Friday”).

While we were on the train ride, Kael started waving out the window to the people standing, walking, riding their bikes, or boating, by the train tracks..

Surprisingly, Kael was extremely well behaved in the car for the 16ish hours there and back.. I say surprisingly, because I was expecting to have to stop every 90 minutes or so to let him get out and run around for 10 minutes or so..but he didn’t.. granted, he slept a lot.. both there and back..and its hard for anyone (even a toddler) to misbehave in their sleep.

Long trip? Yep,

Big Pain Overall? Yep

Worth it? Yep

would I do it over? Yep…sure would.. but only because Kael was as thrilled about it as he was..

EDIT: I just found out, that “A Day Out With Thomas” will actually be less then 50 miles from us, in September!!!! So…..we had a 16ish hour road trip… to see it early….ugh… Oh Well..it was still worth it though, to see the look on Kael’s face when he got to see Thomas in ‘person’
