As we’re going around, unpacking and setting up furniture… Kael has been helping us. Last night, we finished putting together mine and Janice’s bed. Shortly afterwards, Kael was in there climbing up and down on the bed, jumping on it, and generally, just being a toddler.

Janice goes up, and asks Kael “What are you doing to my bed?” Which led to Kael repeating that for the next 5 minutes while she was up there, she came downstairs, he stopped… until the next time she went upstairs, when I hear Kael going “What are you doing to my bed?”

Is it a bad thing, if I can’t tell if we’re being mimicked or mocked?

Kael started another batch of swim lessons on Monday. And he’s having a blast so far.. He’s jumping into the pool, kicking, splashing, floating.. and generally having way more fun then he had last time around…although.. to be fair.. he got sick after the first day of the last session..and then he missed some more time to go see Thomas the Tank Engine…

We think that instead of skipping a huge chunk of time, like we did between his lessons last year, and the first batch this year.. we’re going to try and keep him going every couple of months…he seems to do better when he hasn’t been out of the water for almost a year..

No… That’s not going to be the name of the Sith lord in the Star Wars TV show…

Its how Kael reacted Tuesday afternoon… I was online checking my email, and doing a little web browsing..He came over, and wanted to see something Star Wars (I know this, because he came over, and said ‘Watch Star Wars’).. so I jumped over to Starwars.com, and fired up one of the trailers for Episode III.

This, in retrospect, might not have been the best thing I’ve ever done. Viewing the trailer, led to a 5 or 10 minute temper tantrum, with Kael screaming, and in tears, about wanting to watch Darth Vader… the only problem with this? I lent my Mom the DVDs of episodes IV,V, and VI. Which is where we really get to see Lord Vader.

I got him to watch Episode II instead.. so we sat there watching “Youda” until it was time for me to go to work

Its nice, he’s not even two, and he’s already a complete Star Wars geek… I wonder how fast I’ll be able to corrupt baby Vegas?

Janice emails me at work tonight to tell me that Kael has been running over to my computer (the keyboard/mouse are within reach of those toddler hands that always seem to be able to reach further then an adult) every so often, saying “check Daddy email” moving the mouse to wake up my computer, and then saying “No email”

Looks like he’s already well adapted to the ‘do everything via email’ world… now.. all we need to do is teach him to read..then he can actually help me check my email, by deleting anything that makes it through my spam filter…

In what has got to be solid proof that Kael is spoiled completely, on Friday (the 17) we took Kael to “A Day Out with Thomas“. Now, while that on its own doesn’t sound like much…consider this.. the “closest” that Thomas actually came to where we live? 378 miles.

So far, we’ve been pretty lucky… with the exception of the whole trip to the ER thing, Kael hasn’t really needed to go to the Dr for anything except his scheduled checkups… yesterday..that almost 2 year streak came to an end… Kael’s got his first ear infection =(

On the plus side…even after only 3 or 4 doses of antibiotics he’s a changed toddler.. he’s acting much more like his normal cheerful, happy, fun self then the crabby pain in the ass he’s been for the last week…

So, this is something I never thought I would say…

Today, we went to see Sesame Street Live.. Kael, Janice and I went with Janice’s friend Rhonda, and her son Max (who’s about Kael’s age..one of them is older.. Don’t ask me which one…)

It wasn’t horrible…but damn.. there were a LOT of toddlers there… it’s like someone opened a toddler hotel….and it sold out…

Kael had fun, at one point, Elmo was running around by our seats, and reached out and rubbed Kael’s head (apparently, Elmo mistook Kael’s head for Budda’s belly…but..what can you expect from a red muppet?)

And then proceeded to walk into walls, furniture, and pretty much beat himself up.

At this rate… he should be one giant bruise sometime in the next 5 minutes

We bought Kael a new bike the other day (and of course..because Mother Nature hates us…its been rainy/snowy/cold every day since we bought it). He does love it though… its some German engineered bike..so I guess its like the BMW of tricycles. It was a bit more expensive than I think normal people spend on a trike for a toddler.. but.. It stretches..so assuming he doesn’t grow 3 feet in the next couple of years.. it should last him until he’s actually ready for a ‘big boy’ bike.

we were able to sneak him out when we had 5 minutes of sunshine…
