Holy Shit!!!

I know… not exactly what you would be expecting for a title…but really.. it fits.

I’ve mentioned at least once in the past the fan run campaign to raise enough $ to pay for a season of Star Trek: Enterprise, to prevent its cancellation. In all the stuff I’ve seen online..there were always a bunch of people stating that it would never work, that people would never donate to a show… etc..etc..

There were some rallies this past week (mainly on Friday) at the Paramount studios lot, and other places worldwide… and they must have worked… according to TrekUnited (the site that is coordinating everything) over $3,000,000.00 has been raised…yes…you read that correctly..over three MILLION dollars has been raised so far. I’m making my donation on payday… have you made yours yet?

Survivor: Palau

Last night was the premier of the latest season of Survivor.

And as usual, we watched the first episode to see if there was anyone on the island that we liked enough to watch for the whole season (or until they get voted off)… and the answer… a big fat NO.

I think this series has outlived its entertainment value. We started watching towards the end of season 1 (I think.. it might have been 2)…and each season seems to get more and more…dull. The only ‘good’ seasons recently have been the All-Stars, and the season prior to that (and both of those mainly because of Rupert).

I think the way they started this season was interesting (all 20 contestants in one camp), but I think they ruined it, by separating them into two camps so soon..It would have been better to let the two full tribes interact together for at least the first couple of shows…and then separate them up.

And the one huge survivor question… how come none of these people practice starting a fire with sticks at about the same time they apply? have they never seen the damn show? do they not realize that they need to start a fire?

Maybe not completely cancelled

While the fans of most soon to be (or already cancelled) TV shows stick to letter writing campaigns asking the appropriate studio/network to change their minds and renew the show, fans of the Enterprise are taking a completely different method of trying to keep the show up and running. They are attempting to raise enough money to pay for the production of the next season of Enterprise. Read more about it here, and here.

While the campaign is in its infancy…and the organizers are still hammering out the details (just little things… like how to accept the donations) the numbers that they are using make sense… they figure if 1 million fans each donate approximately $30.00, it will raise enough to pay for a season’s worth of production. Its a far fetched idea…but I think its a good one… once they get a donation method up and running, I’ll make my donation..

Hmmm… Kael doesn’t really need a college savings fund right? He can get a scholarship…so I can donate that money too….

iLego?

Ever had the desire to make your own iPod tv commercial? well, now you can.. and you don’t even need to go out and hire any dancers.. just get yourself one of these, and then grab your video camera and go nuts…

Just think…you can make your iPod dancer pull its own head of and dance around while singing to it…just like Jack Skellington!

Cancelled!

No…not my hosting account, or anything like that…its really much, much worse!

read this! horrible isn’t it? I mean, I’ll admit not all of the episodes were keep you on the edge of your seat, non-stop action type of stories..but..none of the other Star Trek series have been that way either. I enjoyed the show, I’m sorry to see it go… so if you know the email address of anyone at Paramount or UPN..now would be a good time to send them a note telling them to re-consider their decision!

Don’t Panic!

Saw this on Apple’s Quicktime site tonight… I’d seen the actual trailer last time Janice and I went to the movies. May is looking to be a good Movie month this year.

There’s Star Wars: Episode III

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

So, we get to see Anakin turn into Darth Vader… and we get to find out the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything! What more could you ask for from a single month?

Oh, and in case you missed it earlier, Douglas Adams (the Author of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) has had an asteroid named after him!

Battlestar Galactica: The Series

The Sci-Fi channel premiered the start of their re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica. When they aired the mini-series back in December of ’03. I enjoyed it, I don’t agree with all the changes they’ve made (Starbuck a woman? there is something just not right with that thought) I still found it entertaining, and at long last, they’ve begun airing the series here in the US (apparently, most of the season has already aired in Europe). They had a two hour premier Friday night (2 one hour episodes ran back to back). They appear to have kept up the good quality of work from the mini-series, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they evolve it as a series

Star Wars: Battlefront

Aspyr announced yesterday that they will be porting Star Wars: Battlefront to the Mac, with an estimated release of June of 2005. The game looks good, you get to fight in pretty much every major battle that has happened in the SW films so far. And you can pick which side to be on, from choosing to be an Ewok throwing rocks at Stormtroopers, to battle droids slaughtering Jedi at Geonosis. I’m thrilled its coming out, and if I remember the release date of the Playstation/PC versions its only taking like 8 months to port it to the Mac…which isn’t as good as a simultaneous release, but its better then never being ported..

Now..if they would just announce that they are already working on the port for Knights of the Old Republic 2… so that it can be a close to simultaneous release with the PC version……

Worst TV Show ever?

Apparently, the title of Worst TV Show ever belongs, surprisingly, not to one of the stupid Fox “when cars attack”. It was actually a CBS show (no..not Survivor Vanuatu..that’s apparently only a close second) but it was their most recent series debut “The Will” which is so bad we don’t even get to find out if the rich rancher guy dies before the end of the season (apparently, if he does it will be from embarrassment at having allowed CBS to talk him into doing the show)

So, if you’ve got an idea for a stupid mid-season replacement, CBS has room in their lineup, so send ’em an email..after all..its not like you can do any worse then “The Will”
