Vampires kill 13!!!!

Time to start remembering all the tips you learned from Monster movies!

Ok.. I suppose it might be a little bit early to break out the wooden stakes and chopping heads off people you think are Vampires… since.. according to this article they were Vampire Bats…but if the next report you hear out of Brazil sounds something like the trailer for Van Helsing or Dawn of the Dead… it might be good idea to sharpen a few sticks and keep them handy.

Not Enough Sleep?

You not alone, at least, not according to this article (CNN.com)

All I really have to say about it is… DUH!!!!

Apparently, the people conducting the survey/study don’t have or never have had kids… I know I haven’t gotten anywhere near the ‘recommended’ 8 or 9 hours a night for the last 8 months or so… at this point, I’d have to say Janice and I are lucky to get a full 7 hours a night… and we’ve had quite a few 5 hour nights….so I can’t say that I’m surprised by the results of the survey… if the big K ever gets back to sleeping through the night… I think we’ll throw a party…

Music Sharing…good?

So..to repeat what everyone already knew… RIAA’s lawsuits are bullshit..

its not that the illegal downloading/”sharing” of music is what’s causing CD sales to plummet… its the fact that the music on the CD sucks, the CD prices are the same now that they were 5 years ago even though production costs for the cds have never been lower (IIRC, its something like 4-5 pennies in actual manufacturing costs for each CD)…. so while RIAA keeps preaching that the downloads are bad for the industry… according to this CNET article the song swapping may actually encourage people to go out and buy the whole CD, since they have the chance to listen to the whole thing, and know that there is more then one good song on it. The study referenced in this article found that it takes about 5000 downloads to prevent the sale of ONE CD…. I’m not condoning the actual stealing of music… but I do think that ‘try it before you buy it’ is a good business model for the music industry.. .after all.. you test drive your cars before you buy them don’t you?

That’s some interview

Definitely not something that would happen at most interviews..

So.. here’s the deal, apparently when you go to interview at Hooters you are required to change into your ‘uniform’ so that they can see how you represent the company (I guess..it could just be this one guy that made them do it). Turns out, a bunch of girls interviewing for a Hooters restaurant that is supposed to open in April were told to go into a trailer, and change into a Hooters’ uniform (For those of you who don’t know what the Hooter’s uniform is click here – The bottom half of the uniform is a pair of small gold shorts). Apparently there was a webcam, or video camera also up and running in the changing trailer, because police found 180 digital videos when they raided the trailer last month…. for the full story click here …… And of course… this being the internet age… I wonder how long it will be before the videos are available online….

Political Comment

Ok.. so I normally don’t spend alot of time talking about politics… mainly because I think almost all of the government is completely corrupt and grossly abusing their power at our expense….

But.. I want to make a prediction… I firmly believe that our Government knows exactly where all the top members of Al Qaeda are, and have known for quite some time.

After over a year of looking, we suddenly ‘find’ #2…at about the same time that the administration comes under fire for not doing enough to win the war on terror…

I believe that within 30 days of the election this November, that we will ‘surprisingly’ find Osama bin Laden… and that the government will use their media influence (read that as control) to ensure that it is the top story long enough to practically guarantee a re-election of everyone in office right now..

Now, I don’t think this would change even if it was somebody else in the oval office…its to good of a ploy to get re-elected to ignore… And.. it’ll probably work.. and we’ll end up with another four years of the same shit we’ve gone through for the last decade or so… only to have the figurehead replaced in four years… so that nothing will change…..

Odd Headlines

So.. I found another bunch of odd headlines… which I guess is really not all that uncommon, given all the weird shit that happens in the world…

So here are a few…

This one sounds like something straight out of the movie Super Troopers. Click here – I can almost picture the cop jumping over the counter and starting to beat on the kid.

And this one goes to a guy who thinks the world is flat…and that everyone else in the world is part of a giant conspiracy to fake the Earth’s roundness!

this one is about a 75 year old lady ripping off car dealerships by writing bad checks for cars, and telling the dealers that her stockbroker would send her money….

Always lots of weird stuff going on….Of course.. .what’s really bad is that some of these links end up listed as ‘top stories’ on some of the news sites…taking precedence over real news…

The World is Ending!!

It’s supposed to happen tonight! It’s just like the movie Armageddon! there’s a giant rock coming our way….

Ok..so maybe we’re not all going to die from it… but there is an asteroid that’s going to come within 26,500 miles of the Earth tonight at like 5:00pm EST (Here’s the link to the story on CNN ) And in astronomical terms.. 26,500 miles is close, but still a miss. So I guess we’ll all survive and the world will move on…

Unique Legal Defense

This is definitely in the “you’ve got to read it to believe it” category….

Cruising CNN yesterday, I found this article (which was actually one of CNN’s top stories at the time). Go read it…

Yep… you read it correctly, the ladies entire defense is that she was giving head to the guy that died in the accident. I think my favorite part in the article, is the State Attorney’s response :

“His pants could have been down because he was mooning a car he was drag racing,” Platt said. “His pants could have been down because he was urinating out of a window. His pants could have been down because he wasn’t feeling well.”

To bad the U.S. has such a short attention span that CNN will never post a follow up article, to let us know if her defense was successful or not…

Bye-Bye Eisner

Ok… technically, he’s not gone yet… but its definitely a step in that direction…

In case you missed it.. Disney had their annual shareholder’s meeting yesterday, and something like 43% of the shareholders voted against Eisner as CEO/Chairman of Disney. Several called for him to quit outright, instead of waiting for his contract to end (2006).. In response, the Disney board split Eisner’s duties… he is CEO, but no longer Chairman. The board of directors voted unanimously to fill the Chairman seat with George Mitchell (who only 25% or so of the shareholder’s voted against….nothing like the lesser of two evils huh?)
