Kael’s Party

Tonight was Kael’s birthday party.. we tried to keep it relatively small, so it was just family and a few friends.

Kael had a blast, and ended up with a huge haul. He got some trains and tracks for his train table, some clothes, some sheets, and his favorite toy of the night – a ride on ‘digger’ that we had to pry him off to get him home…

Max’s Party

Yesterday, Kael’s buddy Max had his birthday party. Since Buddy Max lives like 45 minutes or so away, we carpooled out to the party with one of Janice’s friends, and her daughter Debbie (Also Kael’s age.. Kael went to her Birthday Party last week).

The funniest thing that happened at the party, happened on the way there.. at least.. I think so…

We had put Kael and Debbie’s car seats next to each other, in the farthest back seat in the van… and when we got to the park.. Kael’s shoes were off, Debbie’s hair was all messed up, and one of the spaghetti straps on her shirt was broken.. They looked like they’d been fooling around in the back seat (obviously, they hadn’t been… but if they’d been 13 or 14 years older.. I’d have sworn they were)

Of course.. the romance was short lived.. Debbie became infatuated with Max’s older brother at the party… he’s now her “pookie”

The rest of the party was your typical toddler bash.. kids running and playing, parents (and pookie) chasing and trying to get them to sit still long enough to eat. Fun was had by all…

And it gets to be repeated today for Kael’s party

Playing with trains

Kael and I were playing with his trains, on his train table this afternoon. All of a sudden, he stands up, looks at me and says “I go look at one thing real quick”.

He then goes and runs over to my chair, climbs up, and starts mousing and clicking around. (I think he even managed to refresh the Six Apart webpage), He then turns and looks at me, says “I looked at one more thing” climbs down from the chair, runs back over to the table and starts playing again…

My son.. the geek

Water Park

Since we got rained out yesterday, we decided to head on over to the water park today. Kael was… overwhelmed by the number of people there, and all the running and screaming and stuff, initially. So he started out not enjoying himself too much..but after he relaxed he started having fun.

His favorite attraction, was the “lazy river” (incase its called something else in other places.. its the big, slow moving, sit on a inner tube and float ride).. he had a blast.. he was rocking in my lap, trying to get us to go faster, singing “row, row, row your boat” and “wheels on the bus” waving to the lifeguards, waving to Janice, and just laughing…we musta floated in circles for an hour before he decided he was ready to get out..

It was fun, and I’m sure we’ll be taking him again…

Birthday Day

While we were planning on taking Kael to the water park today… we got rained out… so we’re gonna try and do that tomorrow..

When he saw his new train table this morning, the kid went nuts.. he went running up to the table hollering “Trains! Trains! Trains!” The only way we were able to get him away from the table this morning, was to take him to Toys ‘R’ Us to spend a gift card he got… wanna guess what he got?

Yep… more trains…

Here’s a quick pic of him playing with the table.. more are available here.

2 Years old!

Today is Kael’s second birthday!

We’ve been getting all nostalgic over the last couple of days, looking at old pictures of him (well..as old as pictures of a 2 year old can be)..and its amazing how far he’s come in 2 years.

He walks, he runs, he can hold complete conversations, he is strong willed, he’s got his own opinions and he definitely lets us know what his opinion is!

I’m still surprised that we haven’t screwed him up, especially considering how little I know about kids (other then they are stinky and sticky)

For his birthday, we got him a train table for him to play with his Thomas the Tank engine toys on..and we’re going to take him to one of the Water Parks in the area.. his “big” party is this weekend, when his friends, family, etc.. will be able to spoil him some more…

2 year Dr Appt

We took Kael to his 2 year doctor visit on Friday. Of course, Kael is in good health, he is only in like the 10th percentile for weight (which, means that 90% of 2 year olds weigh more then him)… but.. since he seems to have a really fast metabolism, I guess thats to be expected.. besides.. there’s nothing wrong with being skinny!

My favorite quote from the Doctor?

“He’s got the right amount of bruises on his legs”

Gotta be something they say, to help calm parents who think that someone will turn them in for child abuse because their toddler is a klutz

Toddler Wisdom II

“Don’t drink the pool”

And since we were swimming at our parent tot class, in the water with a bunch of other kids (who probably have no more bladder control then Kael)… Very, very good words to pay attention to.

Baby Names

We’re just starting to look at baby names (and since we don’t know if Vegas is a boy, girl, alien or puppy) we’re not just looking at single gender names. This morning at breakfast, I asked Kael what he wanted to name Vegas when he/she/it was born. His response?

“Yoda” Man… I love the crazy kid! I hadn’t even considered Yoda as a name for Vegas. Janice asked to (hoping for something a little more normal I think). Kael’s response to her?

“Vegas”

So.. Kael wants us to name the baby either Vegas or Yoda… Guess we’ll have to add them to the ‘list’
