KOTOR-Defeated

So..it took about 43 or 44 hours of game play..

but… I beat Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I had purposefully avoided reading to many of the reviews of the PC version.. so that any twists in the story would come as a surprise. And I can say, I honestly did not see the big twist in the game coming… I’m not going to say what it was here, in case there is anyone reading this playing the game that hasn’t found the twist yet. But, for those of you who have played the game..you know what twist I’m talking about.

When I played it through this time, I played it ‘good’ and went towards the light side. I’m curious as to the story differences if I were to go through it as a dark sider… Maybe I’ll run it through again… of course, if anyone’s played it through dark side, you could always let me know what the differences in the story arc are.

All in all, I’m impressed with the game, even though my iMac doesn’t meet the system requirements, the game play was still smooth (for the most part, it did bog down and get a little screwy in areas where there were lots of characters, and lots of interaction (background changes, sky changes, etc…) but.. even those were livable (once I got the hang of controlling my character in those areas). If it didn’t take almost 50 hours to play all the way through, I’d probably play it through several more times. But, 50 hours is a lot…so I’ll probably run it through 1 more time to play evil.. and then shelve it, until KOTOR2 gets released, then I’ll play again, while waiting for the Mac version of KOTOR2 to get released.

Star Wars: Episode III Trailer

It premiered Friday in front of Pixar’s The Incredibles..so, of course its making its way around the ‘net.

I found a decent copy here. Its about 10 megs.. so if you’re on a slower connection you might want to wait for the official trailer release on Starwars.com or Apple’s Quicktime Trailer site so that you can pick from different resolutions.

My thoughts…. I can’t wait for May!!!! From what’s been revealed in the trailer, it looks like a fitting ‘end’ to the Star Wars Saga (or at least… the movies set in the SW Universe). I know Lucas has said on numerous occasions that all he plans on doing is 1-6, so, unless he has a major change of heart.. this is it… Although.. it now appears that there is a TV series being considered, and I’m sure the Comics and Books – And hopefully the RPG will continue to expand the universe..

I’m thrilled with the glimpses of Wookiees on Kashyyk, The emperor in a Lightsaber duel…the quick glimpses of space combat… from what I’ve seen, the opening combat sequences is supposed to be one of the best, and longest in movie history! I wonder if January is to soon to go stand in line?

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic :

So I got a copy yesterday. I haven’t had a whole lot of time to play it.

But.. I did find out that it will run on my machine, even though its a little bit below the system requirements. I do need to turn some of the video goodies off, and I need to make sure I’m not running anything super memory intensive (like burning a DVD, rendering video) in the background.

From what I’ve seen…the graphics are excellent, the gameplay is good. I think this will be a fun one to play. Of course… if I had a dual processor G5… it’d be even better…but.. that’s not in the budget for the immediate future (unless a whole lot of people suddenly start buying songs through the iTunes Music store link on the right)

I’ll have another update once I’ve had a chance to play for more then 5 minutes…

Gmail Invites

I’ve got 4 to give away… first four comments with an email address get them. While I still don’t think Google’s ever going to go public with the service (and why should they? look at the demand for invitations from people) I’m willing to pass out the invites I get…

Bye Bye Washington!

Seems like Mother nature really hates the US this month huh?

I mean… Florida gets hit with 3 category 3 or higher hurricanes inside of 6 weeks… dumping enough rain on the state to make Noah’s flood look like a spring shower…New Orleans dodges the bullet and avoids turning into Atlantis (Sounds to me, like if you live in the South Eastern part of the country…now might be a good time to consider relocating!)

And now… Washington is preparing to go the way of Pompeii! In case you’ve missed it Mt. St. Helen’s is getting ready to blow its top. While currently scientists aren’t predicting an eruption as big as the one in 1980…. The way things have been going.. I’m pretty sure they’re wrong.. and it’s going to be a bigger bang then that one..

Oh Yeah… Earthquakes in California… nothing big… But…. next week will probably be their big earthquake that sends them floating out to sea…

Makes me glad I live in Colorado.. what’s mother nature gonna due to us? Make it Snow?

Star Wars

Yesterday, Aspyr announced that SW: KOTOR is shipping.

Its expected to be in stores on the 1st of October… which works out nicely for me..since the first is payday =)

And of course, the big Star Wars news this week, is that the ‘original’ trilogy (episodes 4,5,& 6) go on sale on DVD today… I plan on picking mine up at lunch time from the Virgin MegaStore down the street from my work. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to get the ‘light side’ packaging or the ‘dark side’ packaging. I suppose I should actually wait to see what they have in stock, before I make up my mind. George Lucas, in his never satisfied with his work way, has re-done some more of the movies (in addition to the changes that made these the ‘special editions’ back in the 90s. The Han Solo/Greedo scene that was the source of so much commentary in the special editions, has been re-done, again. Apparently, this time they fire at the same time, and Han dodges Greedo’s shot…

Definitely looking forward to picking up the movies..and spending 6 hours this weekend watching them!
